  • Injection Moulding of Preforms: The first stage in PET bottle production involves injection molding, where PET resin pellets are melted and injected into a mold to form preforms. These reforms, which look like test tubes with thick walls, are the initial shape of the bottle before it is blown into its final form.
  • Stretch Blow Moulding Process: The preforms are then reheated and placed into a blow molding machine. Here, they undergo stretch blow molding, stretched and blown into the shape of a bottle. This process involves two main steps: stretching the preform lengthwise and inflating it using high-pressure air. This technique ensures that the bottles have uniform thickness and strength, making PET ideal for packaging liquids and other products.
  • Quality Control and Testing: Quality control is critical to the PET bottle manufacturing process. Each batch of bottles undergoes rigorous testing to ensure they meet industry standards. Tests include checking for clarity, strength, and the ability to maintain carbonation and prevent CO2 leakage in carbonated beverages. The bottles may also be tested for their recycling symbol to ensure they can be part of a closed-loop system, where used bottles are recycled to make new ones.
